A Rye Whiskey Recipe

An American Rye Whiskey is an alcoholic beverage that must be distilled with at least 51% rye.  Aside from the rye, other ingredients included in the mash are often corn and malted barley.  The spirit is 160 proof and aged in oak barrels that are charred.  A rye whiskey is said to have a spicy or fruity flavor.  This is what makes it distinct to the bourbon which is sweeter and full bodied.  Although bourbon has received quite a fan base of drinkers, there are still those that favor the flavors of a rye whiskey.

The rye whiskey is actually a delicious spirit that is suitable for use in many cocktail drinks.  While this spirit was fading into obscurity, it actually had a jumpstart when it became one of the essential spirits to have when making cocktails.  These days, distillers are finding it hard to even keep up with the demand for rye whiskey.

At Minhas Distillery, they do things differently, but of course, they also do things with some common sense put into them.  One such perfect example is the peoples love for both rye and honey.  For this, they decided to combine both and make them into a cocktail drink and this is how to make a manhattan recipe.

The ingredients needed for honey rye are:

1 oz. Chinook Signature Rye Whiskey
1.5 oz. Honey Syrup (1 part water and 1 part syrup)
Couple of dashes of Bitters
Ginger Ale
Orange Peel

To make the honey rye, get a glass and places some ice inside it.  Then add your 1 ounce of Chinook Signature Rye Whiskey.  Next, add your honey syrup.  After that, add a few dashes of bitters.  Stir.  Make sure to stir slowly, just enough that all the liquid content touches the ice so it reaches the same temperature.  Finally, once you think the drink is cool enough top it with the ginger ale.  For garnish, add the orange peel.  Now sit back, relax, and enjoy.

People will love this cocktail drink as it is essentially a small twist to the old classic, rye and ginger.  If you love rye and ginger, you will definitely love the sweetness and subtleties when you drink honey rye.  Compare the two if you want.  You will definitely think honey rye is better.
